What is Hypnotherapy?Put simply, Hypnotherapy is ‘meditation with goals’.During a session, I will guide you into a deeply relaxed state, allowing your mind to become more open to positive suggestions. From there, I’ll use a variety of techniques tailored to your specific needs, including visualisations, to help shift limiting beliefs and tap into your full potential.
-
What should I expect during a hypnotherapy session?Your first session will be a combination of consultation and hypnotherapy, lasting around 90 minutes. We’ll start by discussing your goals and the changes you want to achieve. This is followed by a guided hypnotherapy session aimed at calming your nervous system and preparing your mind for positive change. Throughout the process, you'll stay fully aware and in control.
-
How long does a hypnotherapy session last? The initial consultation is combined with a relaxing hypnotherapy session and lasts up to 90 minutes. All sessions thereafter are up to 1 hour.
-
How many sessions will I need? The number of sessions depends on your individual needs and the issue you're addressing. Once we have the initial consultation, I’ll be able to give you a better idea of roughly how many sessions are required. I use a solution-focused approach designed to achieve your desired outcome in as few sessions as possible. My goal is to help you create lasting change efficiently, without unnecessary prolonged treatment.
-
Can hypnotherapy help with specific issues?Yes, hypnotherapy can be effective for a variety of issues such as anxiety, stress, phobias, sleep problems, smoking cessation, confidence building, and more. It works by addressing your subconscious beliefs that may be contributing to these challenges.
-
Will I lose control during hypnosis? No, hypnosis is a natural state of focused relaxation. You remain fully in control and aware throughout the process. You will not do anything against your will or values.
-
What if I can't be hypnotised? Most people can enter a light state of hypnosis, which is sufficient for most types of therapeutic work. It’s a collaborative process, and I’ll work with you to ensure you feel comfortable and relaxed.
-
Is hypnotherapy safe?Yes, hypnotherapy is a safe and natural therapy when practised by a trained professional. It does not involve any invasive techniques and works by gently guiding you into a state of deep relaxation to support positive change.
-
How is hypnotherapy different from other therapies?Hypnotherapy taps into the subconscious mind to encourage positive change, while many other therapies focus mainly on conscious thought processes. I blend both approaches, addressing the conscious mind and the subconscious patterns that drive habits. Hypnotherapy can be used on its own or alongside other therapies, depending on your needs.
-
Do I need to prepare for a hypnotherapy session? No special preparation is needed. Just come with an open mind and a willingness to engage in the process. The more motivated you are, the more likely it will be that you achieve your desired goal.
-
Do you just use hypnotherapy in your practice? No, in addition to hypnotherapy, I use Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), which identifies and challenges irrational beliefs, replacing them with more rational, empowering thoughts. I also use other modalities such as EFT tapping and EMIT. I tailor each session to your needs, integrating these techniques to help you achieve lasting change. It’s not a one size fits all approach - each session will always be tailored specifically to you.
-
Can hypnotherapy help me stop smoking?Yes, smoking cessation is one of the most effective uses of hypnotherapy. It typically requires just one session, and payment includes a follow-up if needed. We’ll focus on breaking the habit and reinforcing positive behaviours, helping you quit for good.
